The 8 Biggest Pride Parades in the World

Pride parades/marches/ events festivals for the LGBT community are events celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture and pride. The events may also serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage. Here are 8 of the largest Pride events from around the globe.

New York City

NYC Pride takes place annually during the month of June. This massive LGBT festival is held across NYC's five boroughs, and it is usually attended by at least two million people. San Francisco

Toronto

The biggest Canadian Pride event is held annually in Toronto. The summertime event stretches from the intersection of Bloor Street and Church Street to Yonge-Dundas Square. Expect everything from colorful floats to musical celebrations.

Madrid

The annual Madrid Gay Pride event features open air concerts, art, parties, performances, and much more. It is held in the neighborhood of Chueca, and the parade itself finishes at Puerta de Alcalá. The festivities also include a summit, where prominent activists come together to discuss important issues facing the LGBT community.

Sydney

This Australian festival is an international event. Major singers have showed up to celebrate the LGBT community, including Rufus Wainwright and Dannii Minogue. Other than the musical performers, this event typically involves all night dance parties, enormous floats, and the rainbow colored costumes synonymous with Pride.
