NYC Sperm donor gives away his sperm for free

A New York sperm donor made the news on Father's day after the women who had become pregnat gave thanks to his generosity

Sperm donor Ari Nagel made news last year when the New York Post profiled him on Father’s Day about his free sperm and the women who had become pregnant thanks to his generosity.

After Nagel’s Post interview, The Root contacted him to discuss why he’s made it his mission to help couples with fertility issues.

Most of Nagel’s babies were “conceived” in random places around New York City, like Target restrooms, and many of the recipients of his sperm happen to be black women.

During his interview with The Root, Nagel said that he had 22 kids, but a year later, in a new interview with the Post, the “sperminator” has a few more kids on the way. And women have been flying him out to use his sperm.

“It’s a lot of fun [traveling], actually. Of course, no one’s ovulating in Hawaii—it’s Toledo, Ohio, and Flint, Michigan,” Nagel told the Post.

“Creating a life and saving a life are my proudest moments. I donated my bone marrow twice and I never got to meet the recipients; I have no idea who it was,” he said. “[Fathering children] is a lot more fulfilling. It’s an honor to be chosen.”

Ministers Yvonne and Tiffany Harrison were sperm recipients we spoke to last year, and they shared how grateful they’ve been to Nagel. The Harrison family now has two kids, thanks to Nagel’s help.

“I have a very high respect for him. We consider him family. We don’t call him a donor. He’s our child’s father. We have a very high regard for him. It’s unfortunate that everyone was harping on the bathroom situation. Not everyone has insurance to cover this. And it doesn’t make them any less worthy of having a child,” Tiffany Harrison stated.

Some people have questioned Nagel’s sperm donations, but given that people going the traditional route pay upward of $2,000, it’s obvious that for some families, free is the way to go.

Nagel says that he doesn’t plan on donating sperm for much longer, but he’s still happy that he’s able to help people and knows that it’s his “calling.”

“It’s hard to say no [to the women], especially when it’s something that’s so important to them and so easy for me to give,” he said.
