Pride is an international gay festival celbrating LGBT lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lifestyles.

The first gay pride parade was in 1969, known as the March on Stonewall, it started as a protest against discrimination and violence against gays in New York City. Today, pride events have become an annual ritual and have grown to include thousands of gay and gay-friendly participants, not to mention thousands of spectators. Many gays and lesbians dress in brightly coloured clothes. Regardless of their attire, all the participants join the festivities to remind us that LGBT people deserve the same rights as others and people should be free to live their lifestyle, void of judgement or hate. During this time, the skies are covered with the rainbow coloured gay pride flags and banners, the symbol of gay solidarity and freedom.

Gay Pride Events

There are many gay pride events around the world. In the UK pride events have been traditionally in Brighton, London and Manchester, but now many other cities across the country are hosting gay pride festivals.
